Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

You’ve cleaned up your diet, tried the supplements, and you’re still… meh.

If your body’s not budging, your minerals might be trying to tell you something.

HTMA gives us a clue into what’s going on behind the scenes—so you can finally stop guessing.

So what is HTMA?

HTMA is a functional lab test that uses a small amount of hair (the first 1/2 inch of hair taken from multiple spots on the head as close to the root as possible) to evaluate your hair's mineral and heavy metal content. This information is extremely valuable because it gives us roughly 3-4 months' worth of cumulative data about what your body is being exposed to and eliminating.

Why minerals and metals?

Minerals are elements that are essential for hundreds of physiological functions - think mitochondrial function, nerve signaling, muscle contraction, electrolyte balance, digestion, pH regulation, bone structure, blood sugar balance…the list goes on. You can think of minerals as little “spark plugs” because they are involved in almost every single enzyme reaction in your entire body (I’m talking 500+). Their availability and usability will determine how well your body functions.

Heavy metals are elements that are toxic when they accumulate in your body. You are exposed to heavy metals every day via food, water, and the environment. Not to mention, you are born with some that get passed down in the womb! While it’s important to reduce exposure wherever possible, it is also critical to support your body’s ability to detoxify and excrete heavy metals.

Some considerations before purchasing:

  • This test is available to US residents only excluding residents of NY, NJ, and RI. Do not order if you live in one of these states or outside the US.

  • Hair sample needs to be free from dye, so ideally, you’ll need 8 weeks of hair growth if you dye or highlight your hair.

  • If you have hard water, you will need to wash your hair with distilled water for 14 days before collecting the sample. Check your hard water status by Googling your zip code and water hardness.
